A Toast to the Future: the Discovery Science & Space Center annonces a gala wine-tasting

The Discovery Science & Space Center will kick off the official capital campaign for the new Powerhouse Science Center with a gala wine and food-tasting event on October 24.

The rooftop gardens at L Wine Lounge & Urban Kitchen will be the site of the party, featuring “first crush” pourings from several premium Napa wineries, including Cakebread Cellars, Silver Oak Cellars, and Work Vineyard.  In delightful accompaniment, Chef Ame Harrington will serve culinary masterpieces from her sustainable kitchen.

Live music will fill the air as guests, board members, volunteers, and staff celebrate the accomplishments of the Discovery Museum Science & Space Center and enthusiastically look forward to future efforts as we unveil the plans for the new site on the Sacramento riverfront.

The Powerhouse Science Center will be Northern California’s premiere science education center, providing enrichment to families and children across the state. The center is slated to open in the next 2-3 years at the site of the historic PG&E building on Jibboom Street. The riverfront complex, renderings of which are available at www.PowerHouseScienceCenter.org, will include the main exhibit building, a digital planetarium theater, classroom and event spaces, an expanded Challenger Learning Center, a sustainable restaurant, and outdoor seating and display areas. The entire site will be built to Platinum Level LEED requirements for environmental sensibilities.
