"Reindeer Games" This Weekend at Discovery Museum Science and Space Center

December 16, 2008

“All of the other reindeer” might have been reluctant to let Rudolph play reindeer games, but everyone is welcome to join in the Reindeer Games this weekend at the Discovery Science & Space Center!

  • “Reindeer Ramble”
It’s a treasure hunt for reindeer facts! Visitors are given clues to follow as they search throughout the grounds for answers to questions about reindeer and their habits. How do you recognize a reindeer hoof print from an ordinary deer hoof print? We’ve got actual casts to help you learn to identify any hoof prints you might find on your rooftop. Visitors 12 years of age and younger who complete their Reindeer Ramble quest will receive a special prize!
  •  “All About Reindeer”
Do all reindeer have antlers? And what’s the difference between antlers and horns? We have samples of both for you to examine. Other reindeer artifacts and fact sheets will help you become an expert in identifying and understanding these fascinating animals.
  • “Reindeer Make & Take”

Visitors 12 years old and younger are invited to join our craft leaders in the classroom to make a reindeer ornament to take home.

“Reindeer Games” will be ongoing at the Discovery Science & Space Center on Saturday, December 20, and Sunday, December 21.  The museum is open from10am to 4:30pm both days.

“Reindeer Ramble” will remain available for visitors to explore throughout the holiday season. Museum admission is required to participate in all activities. The Discovery Science & Space Center, 3615 Auburn Boulevard, Sacramento,  is open 7 days a week 10am to 4:30, but closes at 2pm on December 24 and December 31, and is closed for holiday observances on December  25th and January 1.  For more information, please call (916)575-3942.
