Escape the Heat, Explore the Stars
DATELINE- Looking for a family adventure close to home? Discover the wonders of the beautiful night sky in the Discovery Science & Space Center’s air-conditioned planetarium!
Each day June through August, the Sacramento area’s only public planetarium offers a narrated 20-minute show, included in the price of admission. Parents and kids can learn to identify constellations and other objects visible in the local night sky, then have fun quizzing each other throughout the summer in their own backyards.
A planetarium educator will operate the star machine as visitors investigate our solar system, visit constellations near and far, explore the outer reaches of the galaxy, and speculate on the experience of space travel, and answer questions from the audience. Presentations encourage the imaginations of all, and are perfect for creating that memorable family adventure. Escape the blistering summer heat while enjoying these engaging star shows!
Planetarium shows are offered every weekend at 1 and 3 pm, and each weekday during the summer at 3pm. (Ages 4 and up in the planetarium, please. There is a waiting/activity area for children under 4 and their adult chaperones.)
Forget long, costly trips to far-away theme parks: come enjoy the activities at the Science & Space Center. Located at 3615 Auburn Boulevard in Sacramento, the Center has easy freeway access, and offers ample free parking. For more information, please call (916) 575-3941.
A non-profit organization, the Discovery Museum Science & Space Center’s mission is to provide interactive learning experiences, engaging children and adults in the power of science while participating in hands-on exhibits.
