NEW SCHOOL PROGRAMS FOR 2015 & 2016

SPACE QUEST

Now through January 3, 2016

Blast off with this educational and entertaining exhibit featuring our solar system. Students learn the latest about planets and the universe beyond through interactive displays. Special interest areas include the study of light and color, elements of the universe, space explorations history, and how to live and work in space. The very popular Cosmic Cafe returns with presentations on how astronauts (and children) should eat to stay healthy in space or on Earth. A twelve-foot long play rocket offers a chance to dress as an astronaut and pretend to fly to the moon! Search and find guides are provided for different grade levels.

BLAST FROM THE PAST! ROCKIN'€™ ROCKS AND DIGGIN'€™ DINOS

Opens January 16, 2016

Have a real science encounter with rocks, crystals, and fossils of all kinds. The basics of sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic rocks are presented in an engaging, hands-on style using large, attractive specimens. Special interest areas include volcanoes, magnetism, fluorescence, and viewing rocks under different magnifications. Discover the Age of Dinosaurs in our dramatic presentations. Learn about the careers of Mary Anning and Roy Chapman Andrews—prominent paleontologists from the past. Younger students enjoy the interactive Dinosaur Train area with dinosaur costumes and a pretend nest. Search and find guides, aligned to the science standards, are provided at three different learning levels.
