Invertebrates
Marty, the Costa Rican Zebra Tarantula, is our only arachnid residing in the Nature Discovery Room. She is usually very docile, except when going after a cricket!
Millipedes are fun invertebrates to watch and learn about. Despite the name, they do not have 1000 legs. Our millipedes have between 200-400 legs. They enjoy munching on the plant material that is fed to them daily.
African Walkingsticks are amazing critters that specialize in camouflage. Many visitors stare into the enclosure not knowing that the “sticks” they are seeing are actually the insects.
Giant Cave Cockroaches are one of the largest species of roaches in the world. They are native to tropical areas of Panama, West Indies and northern South America. These insects are omnivores, eating both meat and plant material.
